Level 2 represents an energy efficiency compliance report with above code insulation levels, thermally advanced glazing, thermal breaks, an airtightness strategy and a blower door test with thermal imaging.
‘Above code’ insulation is specified only when an effective airtightness strategy is implemented. Air needs to be contained before it can be controlled. Airtightness dramatically improves the performance, comfort level and energy efficiency of a building. Click here to learn a bit more about airtightness.
Thermal bridges through structural framing framing, floor slabs and windows are aimed to be minimised by the introduction oth thermal breaks. Click here to learn more about thermal breaks.
An air tightness strategy is best achieved if it is verified. he best way to verify an airtightness strategy is to perform a blower door test in order to measure the airtightness. Thermal imaging also assists in locating air leakage during the blower door test. Correct placement of insulation can also be verified with thermal imaging.
This type of report is produced to satisfy the regulatory requirements for a Building Permit, to provide a high level of performance, and to verify that everything has been implemented as specified.
