How big is Australia compared to U.S.A. ?

In my dealings with North Americans this year I have been asked this question a few times. “How big is Australia”?

Here’s a visual comparison with the map of Australia overlayed on the map of North America.

Size-wise we’re pretty comparable. Population-wise not so much.

  • Australia polulation = 24.6 Million
  • U.S.A. Population = 327.2 Million
  • Canada Population = 37.59 Million
  • Mexico population = 129.2 Million
